Mr Seni Adio

Mr Seni Adio is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Managing Partner at Copley Partners (Barristers, Solicitors and Arbitrators) and Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Business Law (NBA-SBL). Seni is an Attorney-at-Law in the State of New York and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the United States (US.). Before returning to Nigeria, he practised as a Litigation Partner at the International law firm, MINTZ LEVIN in Boston.

About Seni

Seni obtained his Bachelor of Laws with honours (LL.B Hons.) from the University of Buckingham, UK and a Master of Laws (LL.M Taxation) from Boston University School of Law, Boston, Massachusetts, US.

While in the United States, he counselled multinational conglomerates and public sector organisations on a wide range of matters relating to corporate governance, regulation and intellectual property. Seni has since complemented his background in business litigation with expertise in the Nigerian energy sector (Oil & Gas), maritime law, telecommunications and capital markets. He is registered with the Nigerian Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a Capital Markets Solicitor.

Seni is an avid runner who has completed two Boston Marathons.


Seni Adio will be speaking on the subject, “Who is my Neighbour” – the principal responsibility of a ‘duty of care’. He reflects on contemporary interpretations of the fundamental principles of negligence and a duty of care. In considering the question ‘Who is my neighbour’, he contextualises experiences in the light of existing law and lays a foundation for further discussion on meaningful legislative change on the subject.
