Dr Leye Ajayi
Dr Leye Ajayi is Consultant Urological Surgeon at Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust in London and chairs the Trust’s multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings dedicated to stone disease. The focus of his expertise is on adult urology, rapid access one-stop haematuria and prostate assessment, laser surgery for stone disease, lithotripsy, andrology, erectile dysfunction and female incontinence.
Leye has a specialist interest in the use of minimally invasive surgery (particularly laser and lithotripsy) for the treatment of urinary tract stone disease.
His general urology practice focuses on andrology, urinary incontinence and rapid access treatment of haematuria and prostate pathology. He runs the haematuria service at the Royal Free and is a core member of bladder cancer MDT.
Leye was awarded an MD for his research into the molecular biology of prostate cancer and is widely published in this and other areas. He is Service Line Lead for Urology and Clinical lead for stone disease at the Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust.
He is an enthusiastic learner and teacher, and an examiner in the in-service programme for urology trainees and students enrolled on the Master’s (MSc) degree program.
Leye is course director of National and International Masterclasses in complex stone diseases and is one of a handful of surgeons in the UK who regularly perform the Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (PCNL) procedure in supine position.
