Dr Cheluchi Onyemelukwe
Dr Cheluchi Onyemelukwe is Managing Partner at Health Ethics and Law Consulting, Nigeria. She holds a doctorate degree in Law (specialising in health law, ethics and policy) from Dalhousie University, Canada and a first class honours degree in Law from the University of Nigeria.
About Dr Cheluchi Onyemelukwe
Cheluchi has practiced law in an elite law firm in Nigeria, conducted research in health law, ethics and policy, developed regulatory policy and drafted health legislation on behalf of the government. She has also acted as consultant for a number of international development organisations and more recently, taught Health Law and Policy at the Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University.
Cheluchi has served on the board of Sharing in Health, an organisation established to provide freely available online medical literature to medical students in developing countries. She is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and the World Association of Medical Law, and widely published in reputable international journals in Canada, the United Kingdom, New Zealand and South Africa.
She is the recipient of several prestigious awards such as the Killam Scholarship, the Faculty Prize for the Best Graduating Student at the University of Nigeria, the Justice Olujide Somolu Prize for Civil Procedure at the Nigerian Law School and the Canadian Institute of Health Research Fellowship in Health Law, Ethics and Policy.
